A Matter of Facts: Building Democratic Resilience Against Climate Disinformation

22 June | 11:30 – 12:45 (CEST) | Forum

About the Session

Not least since the emergence of the Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion climate movement, environmental protection has become a focal point of debate between the left and right in Europe and North America. While a majority of people regard environmental policies as insufficient, populists use disinformation and emotions seeking to stall progress on climate. The discussion aims to open space for a dialogue that integrates perspectives and strategies from the EU, the UK and the US to develop a more comprehensive approach to addressing the interconnected issues of environmental populism, disinformation and the protection of democracy.
