Michael Schönstein is Head of the General Digital Policy Division at the German Federal Chancellery and Co-Chair of the OECD.AI Expert Group on AI Futures. Until 2023, he worked in various positions at the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, most recently as Head of Strategic Foresight and Analysis, coordinating the ministry's activities on digital transformation. Previously, he worked as an economist for the OECD and as a policy advisor and consultant in various federal ministries in Germany. He holds degrees in public policy from the Hertie School of Governance and in economics and international relations from the University of St Andrews.
