Helene is a historian and author, specialised in the past and present of the United Kingdom. Her essays on Brexit, British support for Ukraine, UK-German relations, populism, German foreign policy, and the role of history and remembrance in international affairs have been published by The Guardian, Foreign Policy, The Times Red Box, Die Zeit, Financial Times, Republik Magazin and FAZ. She frequently works as a commentator for the BBC World Service, and has recorded podcasts with Chatham House and the Körber-Stiftung. She received her PhD in Contemporary History from Humboldt-University, Berlin and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, as well as a Senior Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute in London.
