Lodewijk Asscher currently serves as the opposition leader on behalf of the Dutch Social Democratic Party (Partij van de Arbeid). He is the party's spokesperson on Culture and European Affairs. Before this, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs and Employment in the Rutte-Asscher government. Lodewijk Asscher started his career at the University of Amsterdam, working there as a researcher from 1998 to 2006 and as a lecturer (starting in 2002) at the Institute for Information Law.
